Scaling What Works

Following our Strategic Co-funding Convening in February 2013, we have seen a great deal of interest among GEO members in continuing to learn with and from others doing this work. As a result, we’ve developed a new, cohort-based, peer learning program that will commence in early-June 2013. This series is open to GEO members who are already engaging in a co-funding arrangement and would benefit from peer support. GreenLight Fund has made subgrantee selections for its 2012 Social Innovation Fund award in Philadelphia and San Francisco.

GreenLight Fund works with the local communities to attract and support relevant national programs to close the achievement and opportunity gap for youth. Working in Boston, Philadelphia and the San Francisco Bay area, GreenLight Fund will impact the lives of 20,000 low-income children by improving school persistence and academic achievement, increasing high school graduation and GED attainment, and increasing college access, credit accumulation and degree completion.

The Social Innovation Fund has released its first-ever investment report. The report features the work of many Social Innovation Fund intermediaries and their subgrantees, as well as demonstrating how the Social Innovation Fund is investing in community-driven solutions across the United States. Capital Area United Way today announced grants to three organizations with funding provided by the Social Innovation Fund, a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Capital Area United Way's Social Innovation Fund grant will support programs working towards CAUW's Early Childhood Impact Initiative which focuses on children birth to five years of age, and seeks to improve school readiness for children in the Capital Area.
